China Radio Beijing, August 3rd (reported by Ge Xiuyuan) -- According to a report at 7:10 AM on China Sound News, as per the announcement released last night by the Qinghai Provincial Health Department, the pneumonic plague epidemic that appeared in Zeketan Town of Xinghai County has resulted in two deaths. On July 30th, the first case of plague was discovered in Xinghai County of Qinghai Province. Based on the patient's clinical manifestations, epidemiological investigations, and laboratory test results, experts confirmed it as pneumonic plague. The reporter learned that as of 20:00 on August 2nd, the confirmed cases of pneumonic plague that occurred in Xinghai County, Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province remained at 12 cases, with one additional death. That is to say, the number of deaths has risen to two, with no new cases reported. The other ten patients continue to be isolated and treated at designated hospitals, with stable conditions. Medical observations of the isolated close contacts indicate that none of the quarantined individuals have developed symptoms such as fever or cough. Plague, this disease that strikes fear into people's hearts, is one of the three international quarantine infectious diseases. Data shows that this is the third occurrence of plague in Qinghai Province in the past decade.
