Xinhua News Agency, Hong Kong, July 26th (reporters Raymond Yu and Bi Yongguang) - In the election for the third-term Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region held on the 26th, the sole candidate, fifty-two-year-old Ho Iat Seng, received two hundred eighty-two votes out of two hundred ninety-six valid votes from the Election Committee members, and was elected as the new Chief Executive designate of Macao with a high number of votes.
The election was held at the Macao East Asian Games Dome, commonly known as the "Macao Egg," located in Cotai New City. Although there was almost no suspense in this election, it still attracted more than three hundred journalists from over seventy media outlets both domestically and internationally to cover the event on-site.
