At 2 o'clock in the morning on July 23rd, 2009, a double-decker sleeper coach carrying more than 40 people suddenly caught fire due to spontaneous combustion when it arrived near Xiangfan North entrance of Fanwei Expressway in Xiangfan city, Hubei Province. The passengers who were woken up by the big fire and most of them escaped from the bus in panic, but four people were unfortunately burned to death and one person was seriously injured. The passengers on the sleeper coach were teaching staffs from No. 37 Middle School of Zhengzhou city. They encountered this accident on their way back after visiting Zhangjiajie in Hunan province.
