In the 3G era, TD netbooks were a memorable new product promoted by telecommunications operators. The new TD netbook can also be understood literally: it is a laptop launched by China Mobile that uses the 3G TD network for internet access.

Wang Jianzhu introduced the development progress of notebooks with built-in TD chips (i.e., TD netbooks) while attending the 2009 Davos Forum: the development of 3G mobile phone users and data card users would "proceed simultaneously", including data cards, notebooks with built-in TD chips, various terminals, and 3G mobile phones with internet functions. China Mobile plans to launch relatively mature notebooks with built-in TD data cards within two months. Several heavyweight PC manufacturers will join this plan, and it is rumored that TD netbooks will be available in the market as early as March.
