According to sources inside BYD Company, the well-known cell phone contract manufacturer, BYD's netbook may meet consumers very soon. The market craze for netbooks has made BYD, a major player in the cell phone contract manufacturing industry currently experiencing its winter season, start to change its mind. BYD Electronics (00285.HK), a subsidiary of BYD Company, is actively making arrangements for its netbook contract manufacturing business. The R & D team for BYD's netbook basically comes from companies such as TCL Computers.
However, the insider at BYD revealed that everything was still at the arrangement stage. It is not certain when BYD's netbook will be launched, and the company has not formally made an announcement to the public yet. BYD has advantages in molds and batteries. Thus, the technical difficulty of making arrangements for BYD's netbook is not great. In addition to the fact that the main force for R & D comes from TCL Computers, many of BYD's original cell phone contract manufacturing customers are cell phone companies in Shenzhen. A large portion of these cell phone companies are preparing for the netbook market. Naturally, BYD, as the upstream cell phone contract manufacturing link, shifts its focus to netbooks.
