A couple of days ago, I had an unintentional chat with zousuper and somehow we got talking about the issue of Baidu fanatics versus Google fanatics. Azi and student Z engaged in a close discussion. I thought that "Dancing with G" would be the first to report my unique insights, but unexpectedly, zousuper passed the buck to Azi, and said that he would re-post it after it was published.
As for Baidu fanatics, I think it's purely a misunderstanding. Baidu's greatest utility is searching for Chinese content. Although some search results don't quite match the content (a common problem with search engines), the majority of Chinese internet users still use Baidu as their default search tool, including myself. Whenever I need to search for something in Chinese, I just automatically use Baidu, and then close it. It's like bringing toilet paper into the bathroom; once you're done, you just wipe and leave. No one wants to linger in the bathroom. So, how can a logic process akin to using the restroom make people "obsessed"?
