Google Knol is officially launched.

Google has officially launched its own online encyclopedia service "Knol" in recent days, going head to head with the well-known Wikipedia, and also allowing users to write articles about areas they are good at.

It was learned that Knol is an abbreviation of the word "Knowledge", while the slogan of the service is "a unit of knowledge", which can simply be understood as a knowledge base. Knol is both the name of this service and also what each article inside is called.
