Since we have Google Docs & Spreadsheets, we should make the most out of it. Is it possible to directly send document attachments (such as .doc and .xls files) received in Gmail to Google Docs & Spreadsheets for editing or management?
Certainly! First, visit **Email-In Your Documents and Files** and note down your personal upload email address. Then, set up the following filter in Gmail:
- Contains the words: `doc OR xls` (You can also add other file formats as long as they are supported by Docs & Spreadsheets)
- Has attachment
- Forward it to: (the email address noted in the first step)
Alright, from now on, all Word and Excel attachments (files smaller than 500K) in your emails will automatically appear in your Google Docs & Spreadsheets. With Google, you can also try the convenience of online office work.
One question though: What happens if the attached document contains a virus?
