Marissa Mayer, Vice President of Google's search products and user experience, said that Google made the changes mainly to adapt to the needs of new mobile platforms like the iPhone. The image below shows the logo or favicon currently in use by Google. They are respectively: logo, favicon, favicon browser, favicon mobile, and favicon iPhone.
However, this is just a preliminary product launched by Google to withstand reader scrutiny. In fact, they have designed over 300 icons which will be gradually introduced to the public.
