Apart from the most basic file search, Google Desktop has ten very practical uses that, if utilized appropriately, can make your experience with Google Desktop much more efficient.
1. Launch Programs
With numerous windows open, how can you quickly access and launch a desktop program?
It's simple: double-click Ctrl, then input the first few characters of the program name in Google Desktop — for example, to launch ACDSee, you just need to type "AC" and it will directly jump to the desktop shortcut.

2. Alternative to Control Panel
Want to change your network connection settings? You don't need to go into the control panel; simply type "network connection" into the Google Desktop search bar.

3. Address Bar
A highly useful feature that not many people are aware of. If you want to open a folder or a website, you can actually do so directly from the Google Desktop search bar.
For instance, typing "www.theinquirer.com.cn" will take you directly to the site; typing "F:/" will open drive F.
4. View Browser History
Google Desktop saves your recent browser history, allowing you to easily find a specific page from your browsing history.
5. View Browser Cache
By typing a URL into Google Desktop, you can see recent thumbnail previews of the browser cache for that page, making it easier to review past versions of the page.
