Google Docs offline version is here

Back in May 2007, Google released Google Gears, a groundbreaking tool for offline application development. Google Gears allows online applications to easily transition to offline mode and seamlessly switch between the two states. So far, the only official application that uses Google Gears is Google Reader. Although in December last year, Google officially confirmed that Google Docs, Gmail, and Calendar will all have offline versions based on Google Gears, the exact release dates remain unclear. Taking Google Docs as an example, does it really have an offline version? If so, what would it look like?
