Google is looking for more links while users are searching, in order to deliver better-targeted ads. But the company shies away from the more invasive practice of tracking individual behavior. "Google is not interested in joining what has become an industry race to provide advertisers with tools to weave different online actions into a single person's resume," said Susan Wojcicki, Google's vice president of product management for advertising.
