Gmail may exit the German email service market

TechCrunch reported that Google might no longer provide Gmail services to Germans.

The cause of this matter is that the German government recently passed a new anti-terrorism law which will force Google to maintain personally identifiable records of German Gmail users. The impact of this law is not yet clear, but it may lead to Google starting to require every German Gmail user to provide a verifiable full address.
