Google has released an API that allows other applications to utilize its database of malicious URLs in order to block sites. Developers can use the API to handle access to related sites and thereby avoid malicious code interference. Google claims that this API is still in the "experimental" phase and will require time to update the service. The company recommends users register to obtain a key, which will help developers make improvements.

Currently, Google's blacklist is already being used in the Firefox browser and Google Desktop.
