Google has just released version 2.0.158.0 of the Chrome browser to the Dev Channel a few hours ago. There was hope that this version would resolve the issue with Chinese input method cursor tracking that has troubled domestic users for a long time (description: http://www.wechrome.cn/thread-3960-1-2.html). Unfortunately, not only was this issue unresolved, but a more serious problem also emerged — the tab bar being compressed, causing web page titles to not display.
In fact, the author noticed this issue a few days ago while using a certain version of Chromium, but since it was a development version, no report was made, as it was believed that the new version of Chrome would fix it. In the release notes of today's Chrome 2.0.158.0, there is such a description: "[r8109] Fix for Issue 3258: Tabs created when tabstrip is compressed pending resize (Issue: 3258)." It should have been resolved in theory, but within less than 20 minutes of the new version’s release, a user on the unofficial Chrome forum reported this issue (description: http://www.wechrome.cn/thread-4153-1-1.html), and several other users confirmed the bug in follow-up posts, which is indeed frustrating.
Overall, the new version of Chrome has several updates worth mentioning:
- The third part of the spelling check dictionary has been updated, adding common words from various languages and removing some sensitive terms to promote polite language;
- Removed the `HttpTransactionWinHttp` and `--winhttp` command-line switches;
- Fixed the issue where pressing Ctrl+T did not open a new tab properly in applications created by launching the Chrome browser;
- Users can now uninstall the browser without filling out a survey;
- Fixed the issue where pop-up windows requested by users were sometimes blocked.
In summary, after entering version 2.0, Chrome has encountered many problems. Therefore, we recommend that you use what I consider to be the most stable and best version so far — Chrome 1.0.154.43. This is also the most recent stable version officially released by Google to all users. Download link: http://www.wechrome.cn/viewthread.php?tid=3967&highlight=.43
