Doesn't Google want to be localized in China very, very much? Then you should follow local customs. Localization is best achieved by following local customs!
Today is the 69th anniversary of the Nanjing Massacre! Yesterday was the commemoration day of the Xi'an Incident. What we would most like to see is a logo commemorating the Xi'an Incident or the Nanjing Massacre. Only then would we feel that Google is approachable, only then would we use it, and only then would we feel there is no distinction between us.
But why did Google's homepage have a logo yesterday and today that has nothing to do with China? It's really ugly! Extremely ugly. Maybe my sense of aesthetics is out of touch with the trends.
