Remakes of classic games are often fraught with uncertainty. You can remake a classic game using modern standards, but you can't guarantee that the new version will recapture the feeling of playing it for the first time back in its day. This is why the 2003 *Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time* was such a pleasant surprise: it successfully brought back the puzzle-solving and mysterious Middle Eastern atmosphere of Jordan Mechner's 1989 *Prince of Persia*, and seamlessly integrated it into a trilogy that honored the spirit of the original.
