Recently, several friends have been asking me if *Eternal Tower* is fun. Personally, I really enjoy this game. After playing *World of Warcraft* (*WoW*) for so long, it started to feel meaningless, and this one offers a fresh taste. In many ways, I think it’s actually better designed than *WoW*, especially in terms of graphics—I really like them.
First, let's talk about the areas where the game design could be improved:
1. Characters have a lot of unnecessary actions that affect the continuity of attacks, giving a slightly laggy feeling. Some instant-cast skills also cannot be used while moving because the animations need to be displayed.
2. I’m leveling up as a Mage Star, and here’s how the skill cooldown system works: after a mage casts a fireball, the cooldown doesn’t start until the casting animation is complete, meaning you can’t cast the next one immediately. It feels a bit slow and requires some getting used to.
3. Once a monster starts attacking you, no matter how far you run, its attack will definitely hit you.
4. There are no clear indicators when magic attacks are resisted or fail, making it hard to tell the difference. For example, if a Silence spell fails, I usually take at least half a second to realize it.
5. The target-switching system isn’t well-designed. When you press the Tab key to switch targets, even small animals on the ground can be selected. If you're in a group and there are two monsters ahead of you with teammates in between, it’s very difficult to select another target using the mouse. Using Tab requires multiple switches unless there are only two monsters and no small animals in front of you.
6. The hate/aggro system is a bit chaotic. We’re still not entirely sure how exactly aggro is built up. Yesterday, while clearing Blackfoot mobs, there were two elite monsters. I only attacked one of them, leaving the other untouched. After killing the first one, I leveled up right away, and then the second elite monster suddenly targeted me, even though it had already taken a quarter of its health from our Warrior’s attacks.
