Ubisoft's classic game Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is loved by many players, it won eight AIAS awards in 2003, and was voted the best action game of the year by major gaming media. Famed filmmaker Jerry Bruckheimer acquired the rights to make Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time in 2004, but it wasn't until earlier this year that Disney decided to turn the game into a movie.

But a source at the time said, "Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer, both owned by Disney, will co-produce a film based on Ubisoft's hit game Prince of Persia, which will be released in the summer of 2008."

Now, Disney has given a release date for the film, which is indeed scheduled for a summer release, but it will be pushed back a year, to July 10, 2009, to be exact, and it is unclear if any additional changes will be made. A little earlier, The Legend of Narnia 3: The Dawn Treader will be released on May 1 of the same year.

It is said that the film adaptation of the game will follow the development route of Pirates of the Caribbean, although details have not been revealed, but there must be a lot of people can't wait.
