Yesterday evening's news, according to the American investment institution Pali Research, revealed that talks between Jiǔchéng and Blizzard had broken down, resulting in Jiǔchéng losing the agency rights for "World of Warcraft" in mainland China. The new recipient of these rights is Netease, which emerged victorious after a fierce competition among several companies. After Jiǔchéng's agreement with Blizzard expires in June, "World of Warcraft" will transition to Netease.
"World of Warcraft" transfers to Netease
Previously, Jiǔchéng and Blizzard were negotiating to establish a joint venture to continue operating "World of Warcraft." According to Blizzard's proposed joint venture plan, Jiǔchéng found the terms too harsh, as they would make it difficult to achieve expected profits under such conditions. However, Blizzard was unwilling to compromise, ultimately leading to a deadlock in the agency negotiations.
