【Basic Introduction】
One of the Hollywood box office movie adapted games, "Driver: San Francisco," is finally set to release its third sequel! Although the Driver movie is an action film featuring a confrontation between police and criminals, it includes many scenes of high-speed car chases that keep the audience on edge from start to finish. After being adapted into the first game, it retained all the excitement of the movie and led to the release of the second installment. Of course, with sales in the tens of millions for the first two versions, the third version was bound to be released! In this third sequel, the voices of many Hollywood stars have been added, making the entire game feel even more like a movie!
● International Criminal Organizations
In Driver 3, players once again take on the role of the protagonist from the first two games, "Tanner." Tanner is an undercover police detective tasked with investigating an international car theft ring. The main mission is to bring the leader of this car theft organization to justice.
The basic gameplay is similar to an earlier released Grand Theft Auto, but only in terms of driving around the city. The main task requires players to search high and low for clues to dismantle this car theft group. Tanner is essentially a police officer living on the edge; starting as a small-time henchman while undercover within the organization, he appears to help with the car theft operations, getting closer and closer to the mastermind. Secretly, he must also arrest key figures and gather intelligence. There are numerous conflicts between the underworld and law enforcement interwoven throughout the game, with the story unfolding much like a Hollywood movie, revealing layer after layer of intrigue between the two sides.
● A Host of Star Voices
Most characters in the game have voiceovers, and many renowned Hollywood stars were hired to provide the voices for the main characters. For example, Michael Madsen voices the protagonist Tanner, and other famous stars like Mickey Rourke also lend their voices to the game characters. This makes playing the game feel like watching a movie. The development team, combined with the Hollywood voice-over team, fully presents the cinematic techniques intended for the game, making players feel as though they are watching a movie while playing a game. In fact, Driver is a thrilling and exciting movie!
● Go Crazy Racing in the City!
As players progress through the game, they will encounter various vehicles, each of which can be used as transportation. From large trucks to small motorcycles, the cities in the game serve as race tracks where players don't need to worry about traffic lights or other restrictions. However, if you're not careful and crash ("雷残"), it might lead to the protagonist being blown up.
Besides vehicle racing, another part of the gameplay resembles a third-person adventure game. The protagonist starts with just a small handgun, but you can scavenge weapons from defeated henchmen or use heavy weaponry provided by the criminal underworld later in the levels (basically, the police won’t supply you with any weapons...). But remember, you are "undercover," so if you start shooting people randomly, not only will your cover be blown, but both the underworld and law enforcement will come after you! Even so, when you're feeling down, going on a high-speed chase or running over pedestrians can be a way to vent frustration!
● A Plot Full of Twists
In Driver 3, there are certainly more cities added for players to explore and race through, from Florida to Istanbul, Turkey. As you complete missions in each area, you'll gain a deeper understanding of the organization's complexity and scale. But is the story really that simple? With Hollywood-style storytelling, the game's plot is sure to leave players astonished. The graphics have also improved significantly. With the hardware capabilities of X-Box, compared to the previous two versions, the game's scenes are much larger and detailed. Players in the third version will feel the thrill of high-speed driving more than ever before. Remember, while enjoying the thrill of racing, don't forget your undercover mission.
Driver 3 is expected to be released this spring and will be available on both PS2 and X-Box. Fans who played the first two versions definitely shouldn't miss out, and those who watched the movie can treat the game as a continuation of the film.
◎ Domestic players may be unfamiliar with the "Driver" series, but it is actually a top-tier series with immense influence in Europe and America. Back in the day, the series' popularity even surpassed "GTA." Although the new "GTA" has become the new favorite among players, the birth of "Driver 3" could very well restore the series to its former glory. "The success of the Driver series can be considered a milestone in the history of the gaming industry. Driver 3, which will be released on XBOX, PS2, NGC, and PC, will take the series to a whole new level and offer players a brand-new gaming experience," said Larry Sparks, Vice President of Marketing at Infogrames Europe.
In terms of graphics, this game far surpasses "GTA: Vice City." Objects rendered with multi-light source effects give an extremely realistic feel, and the vast scenes are meticulously crafted down to the smallest details. Unlike some games that use textures to represent distant views, all scenes in this game are represented by polygons. We can see that the depiction of distant views in the game is indeed very detailed, with the real reflections on building surfaces, walls, and car bodies providing a breathtaking sense of realism. The game's scenes are based on actual site inspections by the developers, using extensive photographic materials and relevant data to perfectly recreate the original scenery. The portrayal of violence will also be significantly enhanced, so if you want to experience a more authentic criminal world, try "Driver 3."
