According to TheNextWeb, two FirefoxOS phones will be available for preorder this week. These phones are introduced by the Spanish startup Geeksphone and are preview versions aimed at developers.
The two phones are named Keon and Peak, positioned as mid-to-low-end phones. The Keon features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1Ghz processor, a 3.5-inch screen with a resolution of 480x320. It has 4GB internal storage, 512MB RAM, and a 3-megapixel rear camera. The pre-tax price of Keon is 91 euros.
The Peak, on the other hand, comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.2Ghz processor, a 4.3-inch screen with a resolution of 960x540, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 2-megapixel front camera. Its pre-tax price is 149.5 euros.
TheVerge has confirmed that both phones will begin accepting global preorders on April 23, US time, and are expected to ship by the end of this weekend. It's reported that Geeksphone can theoretically produce 5,000 units per day, but actual output will depend on market demand.
Javier Agera, co-founder and CTO (Chief Technology Officer) of Geeksphone, revealed that starting from June, non-developer preview versions of FirefoxOS phones will be sold in countries such as Venezuela, Poland, Brazil, Portugal, and Spain.
