In 1956, Japan was in the midst of an economic depression following the Korean War. It was in this year that Miyuki Miku joined Olympus, becoming the sole new recruit in the camera development department that year. During the first two years, Miku spent most of his time familiarizing himself with camera design and manufacturing processes.
