When we use the IIS (Internet Information Server) that comes with Windows 2000 Server, we often need to set up some web services, FTP services, etc. However, after a period of use, as the number of web sites, FTP sites, and virtual directories increases, their configurations also become increasingly complex. Can IIS be restored to its previous state? The answer is definitely yes.
**Backing up IIS settings**: IIS itself has built-in functionality for backing up and restoring IIS settings. Before restoring IIS settings, you need to back them up first. The backup process is very simple: In Windows 2000 Server, find the "Start" menu's "Administrative Tools," click on "Internet Services Manager," right-click on the server name, and in the pop-up menu, click "Backup/Restore Configuration." A window like the one shown in the attached image will appear. Click the [Create Backup] button, and a dialog box will appear where you can input the IIS configuration backup name. Here, we enter "IIS Backup 1." Click the [OK] button, and the IIS backup is complete.
**Note**: Before backing up IIS, you need to fully configure all web sites, FTP sites, and SMTP sites because the system will only back up the current configuration.
