According to our news report, at around 18:30 on December 7th, in a villager's home on Xijie street in Xiakin Village, Zhania Town, Longyou County, a man drenched in gasoline broke in, intending to set himself on fire. Moreover, he held the homeowner Hong a certain hostage and went into a room on the second floor.
Firefighters arrived at the scene where a strong smell of gasoline had already spread out, and there were a large amount of bloodstains on the ground.
A somewhat deranged man, Mr. Shu, was holding another middle-aged man hostage and kept stabbing his own right arm with a knife.
The on-site command center sent experienced police officers to negotiate with Mr. Shu while studying and formulating a rescue plan.
Mr. Shu started smoking, and if the cigarette fell on his body, it might cause a fire, putting both the suspect and the hostage in danger.
The personnel dealing with the situation tried their best to calm down Mr. Shu, but the overly agitated Mr. Shu threatened by igniting the gasoline and committing suicide.
Because Mr. Shu was emotionally excited, the on-site command center selected a police officer who knew the suspect Mr. Shu to join the negotiation work.
After the police officer entered the room, the command center immediately arranged for police forces to wait outside the room. At the same time, the personnel preparing high-pressure water guns stood ready. The personnel proposed letting the hostage leave first and replacing the hostage with themselves. They took advantage of Mr. Shu's hesitation to let Hong a certain escape from the room.
Seeing the hostage leave, Mr. Shu became extremely agitated, threatening to self-immolate and placing a dagger against his neck to commit suicide.
At the critical moment, the negotiating police officer fearlessly rushed towards Mr. Shu, and the police officers who had been prepared outside the door also rushed into the room, together subduing Mr. Shu.
Upon investigation, the 32-year-old Mr. Shu is from Wuyishan, Fujian Province. In 2006, he married Hong a certain from Zhania Town and had a son. Due to emotional discord, they divorced in 2008.
This year, Hong returned to Longyou to work from elsewhere, and Mr. Shu wanted to reconcile with Hong but was rejected by Hong.
On the evening of December 7th, after drinking, Mr. Shu carried gasoline and a dagger into his ex-wife Hong's father's house and held Hong's father hostage with a knife.
After medical examination, the rescued hostage Hong a certain is currently normal in all aspects and has not been injured. Relevant on-site investigations and aftermath work are being carried out in an orderly manner, and this case is still under further investigation.
