Kunming, January 16 (Wang Yanlong) - On January 16, the Public Security Bureau of Panlong District in Kunming informed the media that the Qingchun police station had successfully solved a fraud case involving a national civil servant. The initial investigation revealed that the amount involved was nearly 3 million yuan.

The police stated that the suspect, Lu Yunsheng, was a senior researcher at the director level of a provincial unit in Yunnan Province. Due to his gambling addiction, he owed over a million yuan in high-interest loans. In order to fill the gap caused by gambling debts, starting from June 2011, Lu Yunsheng used his identity as a director-level civil servant and claimed that he was helping friends set up welfare lottery betting stations or securing jobs as a way to defraud money. Over the course of half a year, more than 50 people were deceived, with the total amount involved reaching nearly 3 million yuan.

Captain Zhang Jintao of the criminal investigation team at the Qingchun police station, who was responsible for handling the case, introduced that the number of people involved and the scale of the amount involved in this case are rare in civil servant fraud cases in recent years. Currently, the suspect Lu Yunsheng has been criminally detained, and the case is still under further review. (End)
