There are two cameras on the iPad 2, and both are pretty poor quality and could be improved. But very few people use a tablet as a camera so there is room for improvement here. So it is possible, though by no means certain, that Apple will upgrade the iPad's lens to a new one. The new iPad is almost certain to feature a display which is sharper compared to its predecessor, with a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch. A so-called "retina" display and capable of full 1080p HD (high definition). This has already led to some speculation that it may be called the iPad HD (high definition) rather than iPad 3, although others have proposed iPad 2S. Apple has not yet confirmed but leaks over the last few weeks give us some pointers to what we can expect. Whichever the new iPad is called, it is likely to feature a faster processor than the iPad 2. The current iPad is powered by Apple's A5 chip. This new instrument is expected to have an A6 chip, which could be a quad-core processor, although some sources suggest it will be a dual-core chip like the A5. The screen and processor are the most obvious targets for an upgrade, rumours coming out of Apple's manufacturing partner in the Far East suggest both will get one.
