1. Toilets are free. Countless toilets have been built in the city of Suzhou, all adopting a garden-style design with white walls and black tiles, elegant and unique, and they don't even charge money. You should know that in our place, the people collecting toilet fees collect so much that their hands cramp.
2. Very hardworking. In the company, I often see frontline workers coming to work in their private cars. Although they have money at home, they still do assembly line work. A friend's parents from Suzhou live in the city but still drive to the outskirts every year to farm.
3. Not very fond of entertainment. When Andy Lau came to Suzhou for a concert, the stadium with a capacity of 20,000 people was not full. Outside, there were tickets being sold everywhere, 100 yuan per ticket with no one asking about it. However, when he held a concert in Changsha, the Helong Stadium with a capacity of 60,000 people was packed, and there were also many people watching outside.
4. Roads are not straight. Most roads in the ancient city are not very straight, winding and twisting, with many "S"-shaped roads. Standing on the bus, it sways quite a bit.
5. Not many beauties. I always thought that beauties come from Suzhou and Hangzhou, but after coming here, I realized it's a misconception. Beauties like Han Xue and Maggie Cheung are not very common.
6. There are two South Stations, one at Nan Huan and one in Wu Zhong. If you unfortunately get off at Wu Zhong, you will have to walk a long way.
7. Land of fish and rice, but not much rice, mostly from Northern Jiangsu. The dreamy water village used to be here, as well as the reed marshes, but now they have been replaced by factories and commercial housing. There is a lot of water, a lot of fish, and even more hairy crabs, but there are also many crabs bathing in Yangcheng Lake.
8. Garden entrance tickets are expensive, but many other scenic spots are free, such as museums, Zhong Wang Fu, and Confucius Temple, etc., which are free. Qu Yuan and Lingyan Mountain Temple charge only 1-2 yuan. Hanshan Temple is not on a mountain, and Canglang Pavilion has no big river.
9. Outsiders like to go to Guan Qian Street, while locals like to go to Shi Quan Street. There are many foreigners at Wangshi Garden, and there are quite a few Hui brothers in Shuyuan Alley.
10. There are many old customs. Many families still hang things like banyan branches, mugwort leaves, and turtle shells on their doors.
