The New Express News - By reporter Guohui Li, with contributions from Tianxin and Gongxuan. According to the police of Tianhe District in Guangzhou who reported last night, a tragedy occurred yesterday afternoon at a household on Tianhe Nan Street: three family members died from carbon monoxide poisoning, while two others were sent to the hospital for treatment.
At around 3 PM yesterday, a family member returning home noticed a strong, unpleasant smell inside the house and found five family members unconscious on the ground. They immediately called the police for help. After receiving the report, the Tianhe police quickly dispatched personnel to the scene and notified the "120" emergency medical services. Upon arrival, the medical staff confirmed that three individuals (one male and two females, all adults) had already died, while the other two (one male and one female) were quickly taken to the hospital for treatment.
According to the police investigation, the windows and doors of the house were tightly closed. The gas water heater was improperly installed and used, with its exhaust port blocked by the windows and doors, preventing the exhaust gases from being vented outside. The police preliminarily determined that the cause of the incident matched carbon monoxide poisoning.
Currently, the police are conducting further investigations and examinations into this event.
