Visitors Who Refuse Security Checks Are Forbidden to Enter the Park
Recently, it is proposed that security checks will be conducted on visitors at the entrances and exits of parks belonging to Beijing. Visitors asked whether they could carry fruit knives and lighters when entering the park. Yesterday, the Haidian police said that this security check would mainly target controlled knives and explosive items. According to some municipal parks, the random inspections will be carried out by personnel from the park management center in cooperation with the public security officers. If visitors refuse to undergo security checks, the staff has the right to prohibit entry. If dangerous items are found, the police will investigate and handle them according to law.
Which parks will implement security checks? What items are not allowed to be brought into the park?
Beihai: Mainly Random Inspections - Large Packages
Yesterday, no security checks were seen at Beihai Park. According to Ms. Tian, a staff member, Beihai Park's security guards have started 24-hour patrols. Beihai Park stated that security checks would be strengthened at four gate areas: South Gate, North Gate, East Gate, and Jingxinzhai. Among these, visitors carrying large packages or luggage are the main targets for random inspections. If there are any suspicions, some bags will also be manually inspected, "mainly just feeling the bag. Generally, there won't be an unpacking inspection."
Tiantan: Security Checks at Four Entrances and Qiniandian
Yesterday, Tiantan Park said that security checks would be strengthened at the East, West, South, and North gates as well as at Qiniandian. During the implementation of security checks, the main responsibility lies with the park staff who conduct the inspections. For suspicious individuals and packages, handheld security devices will be used for random inspections. If someone is found carrying dangerous items, the matter will be handed over to the police for handling. In addition, parks such as the Summer Palace, Fragrant Hills, Jingshan, Zoo, and Botanical Garden will also conduct security checks upon entry.
Summer Palace: No Lighters Allowed
Starting from August 10th, all seven entrances of the Summer Palace will implement security checks upon entry. For visitors carrying packages, security personnel will conduct random inspections. The Haidian police stated that visitors carrying knives must ensure that the blade length does not exceed 8 centimeters. Additionally, lighters and long swords used for morning exercises are prohibited from being brought into the park. If visitors bring controlled knives or other dangerous items, their knives will be confiscated, and the park staff will prohibit their entry.
Yuanmingyuan: Metal Detectors Used for Random Inspections
Yesterday, relevant officials from Yuanmingyuan Management Office stated that currently, Yuanmingyuan has strengthened its security measures. Among these, the park has purchased five portable metal detectors to conduct random inspections on tourists entering the park. Once the visitor opens their bag, the detector can quickly locate the position of metal items in the luggage bag, saving time. Simultaneously, hundreds of cameras have been installed on important roads, areas, and locations within the park, covering all regions inside.

The head of the Municipal Park Management Center introduced that the security work of each park would be carried out by park staff cooperating with public security personnel. The main focus of security checks would be random inspections, i.e., questioning suspicious individuals and inspecting their carried items using handheld security devices. In case of suspicious situations or discovery of dangerous items, the matter will be handed over to the police for handling. Relevant personnel from Beihai Park mentioned that security checks would be strengthened at four gate areas: South Gate, North Gate, East Gate, and Jingxinzhai. Among these, visitors carrying large packages or luggage are the primary targets for random inspections, with some bags requiring manual inspections.

Mayor Li Jun of Xichang City said, "Although the Wenchuan earthquake severely impacted Sichuan's tourism industry, Xichang, far from the epicenter, was minimally affected. We have the capability and confidence to take on the responsibility of restoring and initiating Sichuan's tourism market." At the recently concluded 'China Xichang・Liangshan Yi Nationality Torch Festival,' hundreds of thousands of Chinese and foreign tourists and Yi compatriots successfully lit the first fire of post-earthquake tourism recovery in Sichuan. Li Jun expressed that Xichang would seize this opportunity to carefully integrate world-class tourism resources like the 'World Ancient Glacier Garden' Laojun Mountain and the Mosuo culture of the matriarchal society at Lugu Lake. By positioning itself accurately, leveraging favorable conditions, and exerting efforts effectively, Xichang aims to soon create an international tourism brand, driving it to become an international destination for Mount Emei tourist routes.
