Our reporter Lei Jun and Yuan Guoli - In recent days, there have been multiple incidents of home thefts in the Longyueyuan First District of Huilongguan. Yesterday morning, a thief broke into Ms. Lan's house through the window ledge. Upon hearing the noise, Ms. Lan's dog, Dudu, began barking continuously, scaring the thief away. Subsequently, another accomplice who was committing crimes at the same time was caught red-handed while stealing.

Ms. Lan lives on the 4th floor. She described that around 3:10 AM yesterday, she was half-asleep when she suddenly heard her dog Dudu barking fiercely. "I got up to see what happened and suddenly heard very light footsteps. I was shocked and immediately woke my husband. We found all the balcony windows open; the thief must have left through the front door." The couple immediately called 110 to report the incident. After checking, they found no items stolen. "There were valuables like laptops worth over ten thousand yuan in the living room. Thank goodness for our dog Dudu."

Ms. Lan said that at around 5 AM, the police came to take statements. "The officer said as soon as he met us that they had caught one of them. It turns out the other thief was caught in the act at a neighbor's house, leading to the suspicion that they were part of a gang." After the incident, she quickly discussed with her husband about installing security grilles at home.

Yesterday morning, the neighborhood beat officer and community committee staff both came to Ms. Lan's house to understand the related situation. A community worker told reporters that there had been more than one theft in the neighborhood recently. He mentioned that early yesterday morning, the thief was also discovered promptly at another resident's house. This resident chased the thief outside the building and found that he had five or six accomplices. He immediately shouted for help, and one of the thieves was arrested by the police. According to informed sources, the captured thief is from Sichuan Province, suspected of being part of a criminal gang. Currently, the police are still investigating this case further.
