A group of young people, in order to seize a car to drive, used the pretense of renting a car to lure the driver to a secluded road where they robbed and brutally killed him. On January 15, the Jiahe police of Chenzhou disclosed the case details and, through our newspaper, issued a warning: taxi drivers must pay attention to their personal safety as year-end approaches.
A male corpse was shockingly discovered by the side of a mountain road. On December 14, 2011, Mr. Liu, a resident of Tiangxin Township in Jiahe County, noticed a foul smell coming from the roadside. Upon closer inspection, he was horrified to find the body of an adult male! He immediately called the 110 emergency number.
In order to identify the deceased, the Criminal Investigation Team of the Jiahe County Public Security Bureau meticulously examined the scene and ultimately determined that the victim was Peng Gaoxu, a merchant who had gone missing from the Majiapeng Market in Chenzhou on November 9.
Subsequently, the police learned that at around 12:30 PM on November 9, 2011, the 30-year-old Peng Gaoxu was lured away by four young men under the pretext of driving them to Guiyang. They drove his "Wuling Zhiguang" minivan, but both he and the vehicle mysteriously disappeared.
The cousins conspired with others to kill and steal a car. The Jiahe police immediately formed a special investigation team led by bureau leader Lei Yanping. At 9 PM on December 27, 2011, after 4 days and 5 hours of surveillance, the police arrested suspect Li Wenhua in Dongguan, Guangdong Province, and recovered the stolen minivan belonging to victim Peng Gaoxu at his residence. In the early hours of December 28, 2011, another suspect, Li Rizheng, was also arrested in Dongguan.
Suspects Li Wenhua and Li Rizheng are cousins and both locals. After interrogation, the two confessed to the crime of killing and stealing the car. On November 9, 2011, Li Wenhua and Li Rizheng were among four individuals who suddenly proposed, "Let's get a car," and then randomly chose taxi driver Peng Gaoxu as their target under the guise of renting a car to Guiyang. Once lured to a secluded area in Guiyang, they robbed Peng of 450 yuan. The four then brutally murdered Peng Gaoxu, dumping his body in the Yudong Forest Farm.
Currently, Li Wenhua and Li Rizheng have been criminally detained by the Jiahe police according to law, while the Jiahe police are intensifying efforts to apprehend the other two suspects involved in the case.
