The perpetrator of the Wuzhi County massacre in Jiaozuo City, Wang Haixiang, was executed on January 6, 2012.
In December 2008, Wang Haixiang, a villager from Xia Xu Gang Village in Long Yuan Town, Wuzhi County, discovered that his ex-wife was having an improper relationship with his nephew, Wang Hongxing. He harbored hatred and waited for an opportunity to take revenge. At around 2 a.m. on August 13, 2009, Wang Haixiang carried a long knife, two short knives, and a pair of rubber gloves to his nephew Wang Hongxing’s house, scaled the courtyard wall, and hid in the toilet to wait for the opportunity to commit the crime.
At around 6 a.m. that day, Wang Haixiang sneaked into Wang Hongxing’s attic. Hearing some noise, Wang Hongxing’s wife Dong Hongxia went upstairs to check and was killed by Wang Haixiang. Afterwards, Wang Haixiang went to the west bedroom of Wang Hongxing’s living room and killed Wang Hongxing. Subsequently, he also brutally murdered Wang Hongxing’s 4-year-old daughter in the room south of the living room.
After reviewing the case, the Intermediate People's Court of Jiaozuo City ruled that Wang Haixiang’s actions constituted intentional homicide. He was sentenced to death and deprived of political rights for life. Later, Wang Haixiang appealed, but the Higher People's Court of Henan Province upheld the original verdict during the final trial. The criminal Wang Haixiang was legally executed on January 6, 2012.
