Do not think that you can do anything on the Internet. A maintenance worker from the post-80s generation, in order to upgrade his membership level and watch more obscene videos, uploaded 94 obscene videos and 131 obscene images on the same website.

Yesterday, the Nan'an District Procuratorate announced that this man from the post-80s generation was arrested on suspicion of disseminating obscene materials.

The maintenance worker became addicted to a pornographic website. The prosecutor handling the case said that Liang was born in 1982 and worked as a maintenance worker for a certain group.

Liang confessed that on December 12, 2010, while surfing the Internet at home, he saw a website called "Eighteen Harmony" on Baidu Tieba. Upon clicking, he found it was a site spreading obscene materials with a large number of obscene pictures and videos. He wanted to indulge himself, but learned that he had to register as a member of the website to view these contents, and that with a low membership level, he could see less.

The level of membership is determined by the amount of gold coins obtained on the website; the more gold coins, the higher the level. To obtain gold coins, one has to upload obscene posts on the website. The more uploads, clicks, and replies, the more gold coins.

Liang confessed that on the day he registered as a member, he made his first upload on the 27th of the same month. Most of the obscene information he uploaded came from the website itself, including symptoms of rhinitis.

Liang introduced that he first downloaded a seed (a type of computer file) from the website, and then used the seed to post obscene information. Each seed points to at least one video file, with some pointing to nearly ten video files. By January 9, 2011, when he made his last post, he had posted between 75 to 100 obscene video files and some obscene images.

Liang claimed that his obscene posts generally received replies, ranging from a few to over a dozen, with click counts ranging from dozens to hundreds.

He was caught nearly a year after posting.

The prosecutor stated that Liang completed all his postings on his home computer. Evidence showed that from his last post until his arrest on December 5, 2011, nearly a year had passed.

The police extracted relevant video files and images from the hard drive of Liang's home computer for inspection. After identification, these 94 video files and 131 image files were classified as obscene materials.

The prosecutor stated that according to relevant regulations from the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Ministry of Public Security, if not for profit, making, copying, publishing, selling, or spreading obscene movies, performances, animations, etc., with over 40 video files via the Internet, criminal responsibility will be pursued; if for profit, just 20 would lead to criminal prosecution.

Sending 400 yellow SMS messages via mobile phone can lead to legal accountability.

Chongqing Criminal Lawyer Network, Attorney Ma Xuan Gang from Zhihao Law Firm said that the law clearly stipulates that if not for profit, making, copying, publishing, selling, or spreading obscene electronic publications, pictures, articles, short messages, etc., over 400 pieces constitutes the crime of disseminating obscene materials.

Here, the short message refers to the yellow text messages sent through mobile phones in daily life.

Therefore, sending 400 yellow text messages by the same person can constitute a crime. This count of 400 messages may occur over a specific period of time, possibly lasting half a year or even a year, not within a short term like one day or one week.

If for profit, sending 200 yellow text messages constitutes a crime.
