Apple is testing the next-generation iPad with iOS 6

Server access logs indicate that Apple may be using iPad devices to test iOS 6. According to a report on Friday, Apple has reportedly started testing the latest version of Safari web browser on the next version of iOS.

According to American tech blog Ars Technica, server access logs show that an iPad running iOS 6 accessed the site. The blog noted that these tablets are running the latest version of the WebKit engine (version 535.8), which differs from the WebKit engine (version 534.46) used in current mainstream tablets running iOS 5, iOS 5.0.1, and iOS 5.1. Although iOS 5.1 is expected to be officially released at Apple's event next Wednesday, many developers have already begun using it to develop related applications, so its structure is relatively clear, reducing the chance of misjudgment.

Another piece of evidence is that there were 346 records of website visits made by devices with a resolution of 2048*1536. While this does not definitively confirm it as the iPad 3, this resolution is exactly double that of the iPad 2. Many rumors suggest that Apple's third-generation iPad will feature a 2048*1536 resolution Retina display. The author of the report stated that there are almost no devices on the market currently using this resolution. Additionally, according to the log records, the IP addresses accessing the websites all belong to Apple headquarters.

There is currently no news indicating that Apple will release iOS 6 in the near future, but this set of server logs shows that Apple is actively developing the next generation of the iOS operating system. iOS 5.1 is still under testing. Apple is expected to unveil the next-generation iPad on March 7, which will likely come with iOS 5.1. Following Apple's iOS release pattern, iOS 6 is likely to be launched alongside the new iPhone later this year.
