University forum posts a shocking roommate advertisement
"Those with outstanding appearance and temperament can score 8 points, enjoy free long-term accommodation. I will even cover the utility and broadband fees, and provide an additional 200 yuan monthly room maintenance fee. Those with average looks will have a monthly rent of 200 yuan; those scoring below 5 points, please don't bother coming..." Recently, a senior student from a university in Wuhan posted on the BBS looking for female tenants.
This post titled "Small Nest for Rent" was published on the online forum of a university in Wuhan on the morning of February 14. The poster referred to himself as "Yihong Gongzi." The post indicated that the place for female co-renters is a single room within the campus, equipped with basic appliances like water dispensers and air conditioners, allowing cooking, and providing unlimited-speed broadband. "Yihong Gongzi" requires the tenant to be an undergraduate or graduated female university student, and they must not have met before. Yesterday, the reporter pretended to be a tenant and went for an interview.
The male poster claims to be a modern Jia Baoyu
Yesterday at noon, the reporter made contact with "Yihong Gongzi," agreeing to meet at his school. "Yihong Gongzi" is named Xiao Su (a pseudonym), a fourth-year student at the school, short in stature, and fair-skinned. Under Xiao Su's guidance, the reporter saw the room for rent. Half of the room had a sleeping area on the floor, light-colored wallpaper, purple incense, and a screen separating the other half which is the kitchen, making it seem like entering a girl's room. "Aren't you determining the rent based on the tenant's appearance and temperament? How much do you think I should pay?" the reporter asked. Xiao Su quickly waved his hands and said, "That's not something we should talk about."
The reporter then asked why he insisted on finding a female tenant and determining the rent by appearance? Xiao Su explained, "I've always liked playing with girls and disliked being around boys. I love reading Dream of the Red Chamber. I think I am the modern version of Jia Baoyu, just feeling ugly myself, so I want someone pretty to decorate my surroundings."
Xiao Su showed a photo he had previously posted online, taken during his third year of college. In the photo, Xiao Su is wearing thigh-high stockings and a rabbit outfit. Xiao Su said he likes imitating female characters from anime. The reporter jokingly suggested there might be issues with his sexual orientation. Xiao Su laughed and claimed that he is a very manly guy with a beautiful girlfriend. He said his girlfriend also knows about his post recruiting female tenants.
Xiao Su said he has another dormitory at his school, and this room is prepared for rent. The tenant must be a girl, "I sometimes stay here too. As long as you are mentally strong enough, living in the same room shouldn't be a problem." After hearing this, the reporter said they needed more time to consider and left on some pretext.
Netizens question his motives
Xiao Su's rental post sparked heated discussions among many netizens. Netizen "Guli Guli" replied, saying, "I still don't understand. Is it the same room? Is this a disguised way of finding a girlfriend?"
Netizen "Fenfen Buping" said, "Renting a female roommate and deciding the rent based on looks, categorizing women into different classes, isn't this openly posting discrimination against women with less attractive appearances?"
A senior student from the same school posted that Xiao Su's actions were merely to attract attention from others. Some female netizens questioned his intentions.
Expert: Poster needs self-psychological guidance
Vice Dean of the School of Education at Hubei University, educational expert Ye Xian, expressed disapproval of the practice of opposite-sex co-renting. He believes that opposite-sex co-renting poses security risks. College students' moral qualities vary greatly, and opposite-sex co-renting contains many pitfalls. Therefore, female college students must enhance their vigilance and pay attention to self-protection. Additionally, even when co-renting with acquaintances of the opposite sex, one must guard against possible safety issues.
Senior psychological consultant Jia Hongwu from Wuhan Dacheng Psychological Counseling Center believes that Xiao Su's behavior indicates flaws in his social interactions, having obstacles in interacting with the same sex. Subconsciously thinking one dislikes men indicates psychological deviation. Generally speaking, when such individuals need to deeply interact with the same sex, such as for work purposes, they may have the potential for self-repair if they actively guide themselves toward correction.
