Xinhua News Agency, Ningbo, January 21st (reported by Zheng Li) - The case of Zhu Chunyu, a city management officer in Beilun District of Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, who was stabbed during an encounter with violent resistance to law enforcement, was recently announced in the Beilun court. The defendant, Wu Zengfeng, was sentenced to seven years in prison for intentional injury and ordered to pay 600,000 yuan in civil compensation.

On the morning of July 28, 2011, the defendant Wu Zengfeng, along with Zhang and Li, were operating a fruit business at the Dalong vegetable market in Beilun District when due to their stall obstructing the pathway, Zhu Chunyu and other city management personnel asked them to organize their stall. Zhang and Li disobeyed the staff's management, leading to verbal altercations and scuffles with Zhu Chunyu and others. Upon seeing this, the defendant Wu Zengfeng rushed forward and stabbed the victim, Zhu Chunyu, on the left side of his neck with scissors, causing him to fall injured and later be sent to the hospital for emergency treatment. After evaluation, Zhu Chunyu's injuries were determined to be severe, resulting in Grade 7 disability.

After reviewing the case, the court believed that Wu Zengfeng intentionally harmed a citizen's body, causing serious injuries to one person, which constituted the crime of intentional injury. Considering his relatively good attitude towards confession, he was given a lighter sentence according to the law.

In addition, another defendant in this case, Zhong Mou, knowingly provided financial assistance to Wu Zengfeng after his crime and helped him escape, thus being sentenced to ten months in prison for harboring a criminal, with a one-year reprieve.
