The Case Was Cracked within 14 Hours after the Police Got Involved in the Investigation

At around 5 o'clock in the morning yesterday, at the moment when the police broke down the door and rushed in, Tan (name), who realized that he had committed a great crime, was still awake. On the table in the rented house, there was boxed meal that was not touched yet. Two hours before, his accomplice Wei, who escaped to Zhuhai, was arrested. At around 4:50 p.m. yesterday, the main culprit Zhou, who fled by car, was also captured by Bao'an police in Lusai, Guangxi. This case, in which the owner blocked the thief's car and was dragged to death (see details in yesterday's report of our newspaper), was cracked within 14 hours after the police intervened.

Around 12 noon on the day before yesterday, on Tangtou East Road, Songgang Street, Bao'an District, Ms. Zhao, the boss's wife of a Hunan cuisine restaurant suddenly rushed out of the store and blocked a van in front of the store, shouting "Catch the thief". At that time, the van started and accelerated to escape, and Ms. Zhao was rolled under the car. Many citizens who were unfamiliar with the boss's wife called for help, and some citizens even tried to intercept the fleeing van, but the van drove very fast and had fled from the scene when the police arrived. Ms. Zhao, who was seriously injured, unfortunately died after being sent to the hospital for treatment.

After the case was reported, the leading officials of Bao'an Public Security Bureau gave important instructions. The Bao'an Criminal Investigation Brigade joined with Dongfang Police Station to form a special investigation team, striving to solve the case as soon as possible. After visiting the scene, the police learned that the license plate of the involved van started with "Gui B", and ended with "111". After the incident, it fled towards Dongguan direction. The special investigation team quickly coordinated with the public security checkpoints around Shenzhen to control the suspected van throughout the district, and contacted the Dongguan police to assist in checking and controlling.

On the evening of the previous day, according to the limited clues they had mastered, and with the strong support of relevant departments of Shenzhen Public Security Bureau, the special investigation team confirmed that one suspect had fled to Zhuhai, and another suspect hid in Fuyong Street. Time is precious, the special investigation team acted separately. A group of police quickly went to Zhuhai and arrested the 22-year-old suspect Wei at a hotel in Gongbei Port, Zhuhai at around 3 o'clock in the morning yesterday; another group of police conducted investigations in Fuyong Street and arrested the 27-year-old suspect Tan at a rented house in Tangwei Village at around 5 o'clock in the morning yesterday.

At around 4:50 p.m. yesterday, the 24-year-old main culprit Zhou, who fled by car, was also captured by Bao'an police in Room 403, Guangchuan Community, Lusai County, Liuzhou City, Guangxi. It was learned that all three criminal suspects were from Lusai County, Guangxi.

Narrative

Suspect: We Just Wanted to Escape Quickly

Yesterday, in the interrogation room of the police station, when the reporter of Nanfang Daily asked one of the criminal suspects, Tan, about his feelings, Tan said he felt very regretful. He even dared not tell his wife and family about this matter. Not until he saw the police come in did he calm down, thinking that he could finally have a good sleep. He knew he would be caught because the license plate must have been photographed.

"I wanted to steal things on impulse"

Tan said that he learned hairdressing skills in his hometown in Guangxi, got married and had children, and his child is already 5 years old. In October last year, he came to a hair salon in Tangwei, Fuyong Street, Bao'an District, Shenzhen, to work as a hairdresser, earning about 3,000 yuan per month. He quit his job and returned home for the Spring Festival at the end of last year.

Tan said that he had some relatives' relationship with the other two suspects, Wei and Zhou. After the Spring Festival, the three of them had nothing to do at home, so they agreed to come to Shenzhen to find jobs. On the evening of February 13, the three rented a van for 130 yuan per day from their hometown and rushed to Shenzhen. In the morning of the 14th, after arriving in Bao'an Fuyong, the three discussed making some "quick money." Tan heard someone talk about stealing methods in his hometown, which was to choose some small stores and steal while the boss was not paying attention. The three immediately took action, driving the van to Shajing and scouted for two days, but did not find any targets.

"I wanted to steal things on impulse, just to make some money," Tan said. Yesterday at noon, the three drove to the intersection of Tangtou Road in Songgang, which was their first time in Songgang. While wandering around, they found Mr. Wei's Hunan cuisine restaurant. There were only the boss couple in the store, and customers were eating quietly. The three decided to steal from this store immediately. They pretended to order food and eat in the store. Taking advantage of the boss's distraction, Tan sneaked upstairs and rummaged through the drawers, quickly finding more than 4,000 yuan in cash. Within just a few minutes, Tan came downstairs, only to be spotted by Ms. Zhao, the boss's wife.

"Seeing the police come in made me feel relieved"

What happened next was unexpected for the three of Tan. Since it was their first time stealing, Tan said, "I was very scared and nervous when I was discovered, and all I could think of was to escape from the scene as quickly as possible," without even waiting for his accomplice Wei to get on the car. At that time, Tan was sitting in the passenger seat, tightly holding the car door to prevent Mr. Wei from pulling it open. The driver Zhou was also very flustered and drove away without noticing that Ms. Zhao was blocking the front of the car. "I saw Zhou's face stiff with panic, and his hands were trembling," Tan said.

At around 4 p.m. on the previous day, the three met up at a small inn in Chang'an, Dongguan, through phone contact. Tan received 1,100 yuan of the stolen money. During this period, accomplice Zhou said, "It seemed like we ran over someone while escaping, something big is going to happen." All three were very frightened and immediately fled separately.

After separating, Tan took a taxi back to Fuyong and found a rented house to stay in, but he couldn't stop thinking about what happened during the day, unable to sleep all night. The dinner he bought was left on the table, and he didn't have the mood to eat. When he saw the police come in, he felt relieved, thinking he could finally have a good sleep.
