First, confirm whether there is an educational qualification approved by the Ministry of Education, the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, and the Ministry of Public Security; some so-called intermediary companies do not even have legitimate national qualifications. Some intermediaries claim they are directly connected with Korean universities, but actually, they transfer the student's information and data to other capable institutions for processing. This is similar to the primary agent and secondary agent in products. Excellent Korean universities are very cautious in choosing domestic agencies, and may even conduct interviews for student selection. Generally, the deans of university language education institutes or admissions teachers come for the interview. Here, beware: Some Chinese impersonate Korean university admissions representatives to interview students. Reminder two: Beware of various miscellaneous fees, and make sure to clarify the overall cost!
For example, many intermediary companies actually do not handle matters directly, but only send them to capable companies. Therefore, to maintain their own profit, they need to pay 5000 RMB to the other company. So, "羊毛出在羊身上" (the wool comes from the sheep itself), the intermediary company tells the student: our intermediary fee is 8000 RMB, the student feels it's acceptable, then signs the contract. Afterwards, they will tell you about additional costs such as overseas service fees, entry administration material review fees, foreigner guarantee fees, document review fees, etc... They overcharge by 5000 RMB, making the final intermediary fee around 13000 RMB, or added into the student's tuition!
Reminder three: Promoting good schools, yet sending students to bad ones!
For instance, a certain intermediary tells the student that Ewha Womans University offers free Korean lessons. They handle applications for National XXX University, asking the student to first pay a deposit and interview registration fee. Only after formal acceptance does the student learn it’s actually XXXXX University. The money has already been paid, it's too late! Such occurrences are quite common!
Reminder four: Do not believe in working schools, where students only work and don't attend classes, earning ten thousand RMB per month!
Some intermediaries advertise that students can earn money while studying and have low costs to attract students! Many uninformed parents easily fall for this scam!
To clarify, first, Korean universities admit international students but do not introduce jobs to them! Moreover, they do not illegally assist students in finding work! Secondly, some people falsely claim that one can earn 10,000 RMB or more per month! We responsibly inform you that the average income for a regular Korean person in Korea is around 10,000-12,000 RMB! How could Chinese students who do not understand the language possibly reach that level?! Thirdly, we warn students against attending schools where they only work and do not attend classes. Korea is a rule-of-law society, and such schools would not survive in Korea! Finally, be cautious when studying in Korea. Going abroad can enrich life experiences, but students going to Korea with the purpose of working will ultimately suffer both mentally and physically!
Reminder five: Students and parents must carefully choose universities! The most direct method is to refer to university rankings. Truly studious students should aim for universities ranked higher, and are not recommended to go to those ranked too low. Among these, there are still some undesirable universities that intermediaries apply on behalf of students, which indeed raises questions of conscience.
