It is understood that the suspect climbed into houses to steal things using his slim body shape. If he encountered a house with nothing valuable to steal, he would write messages like "Your family is so poor, work hard" on the wall of the victim's house using soy sauce or other condiments. Among the more than 20 households that were stolen from, he left messages for five or six families.
At around 6:00 PM on the 14th, when the Hulan police were patrolling near Building 7 of Lanhe Mingyuan residential area, they found a man standing on the roof of the 8th floor. When the man saw the patrolling police, he immediately hid inside the building. The police quickly secured all the unit doors of Building 7 and then searched each hallway one by one. At around 7:00 PM, when the police searched Room 802, Unit 2, Building 7, they found a crack in the door and marks of forced entry on it. After pushing open the door, the room was pitch black inside.
When searching the small room on the north side, a man suddenly jumped out from under the bed and swung a hammer to prevent the police from getting close. The police rushed forward and pinned the man down.
After interrogation, the man confessed that he surnamed Hu. He had just broken into Room 802 and stolen gold earrings, gold rings, and more than 3,000 yuan in cash, and was observing if there was anyone downstairs on the rooftop when he spotted the patrolling police. He returned to hide but was eventually caught. Hu admitted that since August 2011, he had climbed the drainage pipes outside the buildings in Lanhe Mingyuan residential area to the rooftops and committed more than 20 burglaries, involving over 200,000 yuan. Currently, Hu has been criminally detained.
