A major movie prop replica factory, efx, has recently launched a series of products claimed to be exact replicas of movie props. In the past, general movie prop replicas were usually as close to the original movie props as possible, but this was often limited to appearance alone. However, efx's "Luke Skywalker X-Wing Pilot Helmet ANH Edition" (Note 1) uses computer 3D scanning of the original helmet preserved by Lucasfilm. This not only perfectly replicates its appearance and shape, but also faithfully reproduces all the details inside the helmet, making one feel as if they are holding the actual movie prop.

The efx Star Wars - 1/1 Prop Replica: Luke Skywalker X-Wing Pilot Helmet ANH Edition is expected to be released in January 2012, with a global limited edition of 750 sets, priced at $578.99.

(Note 1): Due to the difficulty in preserving Star Wars movie props, combined with the technology of the time that could only produce handmade props, it was impossible for every prop to be exactly the same. Additionally, Star Wars fans are very particular about movie props. Therefore, Star Wars props are often categorized into: ANH Edition (A New Hope), ESB Edition (The Empire Strikes Back), ROTJ Edition (Return of the Jedi), and HERO Edition (Hero Edition: As the name suggests, these are versions worn by main characters like LUKE or HAN SOLO, specifically referring to their versions when disguised as stormtroopers).
