The Apple iPad has been dominating the ever-growing tablet computer market. However, competitors are intensively developing their own products, and the latest manufacturer to release a range of tablet computers is Acer. They are introducing new, yet unnamed, 7-inch and 10.1-inch tablets, as well as another very interesting device, set for sale in April 2011. All three devices are powered by Google’s Android operating system, though the exact version has not been confirmed. Let's hope that at least one of these three will come with "Gingerbread" (Android 2.3) or even "Honeycomb" (Android 3.0?), which will be Google’s latest version of Android. The Honeycomb platform is specifically designed to maximize the potential of tablets and high-end smartphones, much like the upcoming larger tablets and the 4.8-inch Acer model. My favorite color is black, red-bottomed shoes—what's yours? It's a kind of hybrid between a tablet and a smartphone, similar to the Dell Streak, but Acer’s device has more power. This 4.8-inch model comes with a 1024x480 resolution screen and is based on Google’s mobile OS. As I write this article, there is no finalized name for this new product yet. The public only got a brief look at it during Acer’s Global press event in New York City on November 23rd. Technical specifications include a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, Bluetooth 3.0, 802.11n Wi-Fi, a two-megapixel front-facing camera, an eight-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash, 720p video recording, HSDPA support, HDMI output, LED edge lighting, and a six-axis Gyroscope + accelerometer package. The price of the device remains unknown, but enthusiasts can expect to get their hands on this beauty in April 2011. Need to update your current phone? I myself have been using Apple iPads for quite some time now. I’ve got nothing but good things to say about Multi-Touch screen devices. I actually think that this ever-developing Tablet industry marks the beginning of a completely new era in consumer information technology.
