Yangmei from Yuyao, Water Chestnut Variety Yangmei

Biqi variety; produced in Lanxi Majian, Yuyao, and Cixi of Zhejiang Province. It is currently the most widely distributed and largest planted variety in China, and also the best domestic variety for both fresh fruit consumption and processing. In 1984, canned syrup made from this variety won the National Silver Award, and internationally it received the Golden Laurel Award for World Tourism Food. It matures in late June each year. The fruit is purple-black in color, small in size, with a small pit, but of exceptional quality. The Yuyao Yangmei has easily separable flesh and pit, with an edible rate of 95.0%, containing 12.0% soluble solids. The fruit is firmly attached to the tree, with little pre-harvest fruit drop. This variety is abundant, stable, high-quality, suitable for fresh consumption, juicing, canning, and has wide adaptability. There are reports that it has anti-cancer effects.
