Nowadays, society advocates green environmental protection. So, how can packaging design companies achieve green environmental protection in packaging design? Professionals in the packaging design industry have proposed six aspects of green packaging design:
1. Packaging designers should try to use green packaging materials and design long-lasting packaging materials, which can greatly reduce the pollution caused by discarded packaging.
2. Reduction of packaging. In some developed countries, many supermarkets encourage consumers to use reusable nylon shopping bags and reduce the use of disposable plastic bags. The materials used in packaging design should be minimized as much as possible, unnecessary packaging should be eliminated, and simple packaging should be advocated to save resources.
3. Simplification of packaging materials. The materials used should be as pure as possible, and foreign materials should not be mixed in to facilitate recycling.
4. Detachable packaging design. Packaging that requires a composite material structure should be designed into a detachable structure to facilitate recycling after disassembly.
5. Emphasis on the reuse of packaging materials. Recyclable, reusable, and recyclable packaging should be adopted to improve the life cycle of packaging and reduce packaging waste.
6. Harmlessness of packaging materials. The European Directive on Packaging and Packaging Waste specifies the levels of heavy metal content (such as lead, mercury, and chromium), for example, the lead content is less than 100PPM. China should also legislate to prohibit or reduce the use of certain packaging materials containing harmful components such as lead, mercury, and tin, and specify the allowable content of heavy metals.
