On August 26, BYD signed a cooperation agreement with Hertz, a global car rental giant, to provide the main electric vehicle product E6 of BYD to Hertz's leasing fleet in China. This is the first time that electric vehicles have been introduced into China's car rental industry. At the handover ceremony, Hertz both sides did not disclose the specific procurement quantity of the cooperation. However, Hertz said that it would purchase two vehicles this week in Shenzhen, and the Hertz branches in Beijing and Shanghai would also purchase the same number of BYD E6 models. For Hertz, which has more than 8500 rental stores in 146 countries, the promotion of new energy vehicle rental business originated from its judgment on the prospect of new energy vehicles. Mr Hu Mao, General Manager of Hertz China, said that as early as October last year, Hertz launched a global promotion plan for electric vehicle rental business in New York. In less than a year, electric vehicle rental services have been launched in 10 cities around the world. "After signing with BYD, we are now the only company conducting electric vehicle rental business in America, Europe and Asia," Mr Hu Mao said, and will gradually expand the scale of electric vehicle procurement according to market demand. In Mark's view, the President and CEO of Hertz Global, due to the Chinese government's strong push for new energy vehicles, China has taken the lead in supporting the development of new energy vehicles. If the national subsidy is included, the cost of purchasing electric vehicles is cheaper than abroad. "We expect that there will be a significant increase in China's electric vehicle market demand in the next five years. Therefore, when entering the Chinese market, Hertz's investment intensity is greater than in other countries to cooperate with the Chinese government's policies," Mr Hu Mao indicated.
