A senior executive of Microsoft China recently confirmed that Microsoft will introduce new promotion measures for the Windows Store on the Windows Phone platform (hereinafter referred to as WP). Developers can receive an additional 10% revenue share after their app sales exceed $25,000.

Xie Enwei, Vice President of Greater China Region and General Manager of Market Strategy Department at Microsoft, revealed on the 15th at the "Innovate China DEMO CHINA 2012" conference that in order to encourage developers to innovate using the WP platform, Microsoft will introduce preferential measures: once the sales of an application in the WP app store, the Windows Store, reach $25,000, Microsoft will increase the developer's revenue share from the default 30-70 split to a 20-80 split, meaning that developers can earn up to 80% of the app's sales revenue.

Subsequently, in an exclusive interview with this reporter, Xie Enwei stated that although WP was introduced later, it is developing rapidly. Among the more than 60,000 WP applications currently available, Chinese developers have contributed over a thousand.

Currently, Tencent Open Platform has announced that developers earning less than 100,000 yuan per month will be exempt from revenue sharing fees; Sina Weibo Open Platform currently waives revenue sharing fees for game applications that have been operational for less than a year.

Given the stable and substantial profits of Apple's iOS platform and the large number of users on Google's Android platform, what are the advantages of Microsoft's WP?

At the end of the interview, the reporter asked Xie Enwei to convince developers to invest in WP platform development within one minute. Xie Enwei said: "I hope developers understand that consumers will not just have one smart terminal. Microsoft's advantages in desktop devices and the cloud, including the upcoming tablet, will all become strong support for the WP system; secondly, Microsoft has a clear advantage in the enterprise market, even though Apple has only just started to focus on this market. WP developers' applications will be able to enter enterprises directly through Microsoft's platform."
