Irish Army bomb experts have handled their highest number of call-outs in over three decades. In the most recent incident, they neutralized an improvised explosive device (IED) in Dublin. The Defense Forces team was called to a private residence on Kilcronan Avenue, Clondalkin, around 2 PM. The viable device, described as such, was rendered safe without the need for a controlled explosion.
"A Defense Forces spokesman stated, "The device has been transported to a military installation for further examination and will subsequently be handed over to the GardaĆ." The scene was declared safe at 3:15 PM. This incident marked the 236th call-out for the Defense Forces' bomb disposal experts this year and the 55th viable explosive device made safe. The past year saw the highest annual number of call-outs for the bomb disposal teams since 1979, according to the Defense Forces spokesman.
