Man Released from Prison Commits Another Crime, Arrested 25 Hours Later
Morning Post News (Reported by We Jinna) - He committed another crime just after being released from prison...
A 23-year-old vegetable seller was robbed and killed on her way home from a night shift. She never made it back upstairs, leaving behind her two-year-old son.
The suspect was arrested 25 hours after the incident.
Early Morning: Victim Found in Residential Area
At around 3 a.m. on November 26, Mr. Lu walked into his residential area after finishing his night shift. Suddenly, he noticed someone lying on the ground not far ahead. "I thought it was someone who had passed out drunk, so I didn't pay much attention," said Mr. Lu.
However, as Mr. Lu approached, he discovered that the person had a large pool of blood beneath them. He immediately ran to the guard room and called for the security guard. With the help of the flashlight's strong beam, they found that the victim was a young woman covered in blood.
After receiving the news, the 120 emergency medical services arrived at the scene first. Despite the doctors' best efforts to save her, the victim died due to excessive blood loss. The fatal stab wounds were concentrated on her neck and chest. Subsequently arriving police officers preliminarily determined the case to be a robbery-murder.
The incident occurred in the Yansaihu residential area near Honghu First Street in Tiexi District. An informed source revealed that the deceased woman surnamed Wang and was 23 years old.
Surveillance: A Man Followed Her Into the Neighborhood
At around 2 p.m. yesterday, reporters at the entrance of the Yansaihu residential area observed that the neighborhood was open with no access control system, allowing free entry and exit.
The victim, Ms. Wang, lived in Unit 5 of Building 5, where she rented an apartment and had been living there for over a year. Yesterday, multiple knocks on her door went unanswered.
Neighbors downstairs introduced Ms. Wang as having a son, husband, and mother. "Her son has just learned to walk and used to play downstairs during the summer," they mentioned.
With the neighbors' help, reporters located the crime scene. It was situated in front of Unit 3 of Building 5, only one unit away from Ms. Wang’s home. By this time, there were no visible traces of blood on the ground.
Security guards reported that police reviewed surveillance footage and found that at around 2:30 a.m., a man followed Ms. Wang into the neighborhood. About 20 minutes later, he ran out of the gate looking flustered. This man was subsequently identified as the suspect.
It was also learned that Ms. Wang worked at a nearby large vegetable wholesale market before her death. The market typically opened for business at 11 p.m. and closed around 2 a.m. the next day. "All transactions here are in bulk; carrying tens of thousands of yuan in cash when leaving is quite common," said an industry insider.
Suspect Arrested in Nightclub
Reporters visited Ms. Wang's vegetable stall, which was piled high with cartons of cherry tomatoes, bitter melons, cucumbers, and more. Nearby vegetable vendors stated that everyone knew about Ms. Wang's death on the day it happened. "We couldn’t do much to help but decided to sell some of her vegetables voluntarily," they said. Several vendors added that Ms. Wang was from Huludao City. Her father had passed away when she was very young, leaving behind an elderly mother. Over a year ago, her mother was brought over to take care of her then-one-year-old grandson. Her husband, from Anshan, had recently borrowed money to buy a large truck for transporting goods between Shenyang and Dalian.
"These two were very hardworking and diligent; their lives were improving day by day," said a vendor. "Who would have thought that just as they started enjoying a better life, Ms. Wang would meet such a tragic end? It's too pitiful—her child is only two years old."
At around 5 p.m. yesterday, reporters received news that the suspect was arrested at around 4 a.m. at a nightclub within the city. The suspect had just been released from prison shortly before the crime. After being apprehended, he confessed and led the police to the crime scene. Based on his confession, the police found Ms. Wang's handbag inside a trash can in front of Building 7. Currently, the case is still under further investigation.
Year-End Period Sees Spike in Robberies
Police reminded the public that every year at the end of the year, there is a surge in robbery and snatch theft cases. Citizens, especially single women returning home late at night, should be extra cautious. In the event of sudden danger, remain calm and prioritize your personal safety. Avoid excessive resistance. Pay attention to noting down the suspect's characteristics, escape routes, and other relevant information. Once safe, report the incident to the police as soon as possible.
