Pinterest's Monthly Unique Users Surpass 10 Million in 9 Months

Sina Tech, February 8th morning Beijing Time - According to a report by American tech blog BusinessInsider, the monthly unique user visits of Pinterest, an American image-sharing social media platform, have surpassed 10 million within just 9 months, making it the fastest-growing website in terms of user numbers to date.

According to data released by market research firm comScore and reported by tech blog TechCrunch, Pinterest had 11.7 million unique users in January 2012, compared to 7.5 million in December last year and only 418,000 in May last year. This makes Pinterest the fastest-growing website in terms of user numbers to date.

However, when compared to Facebook users who spend an average of 7 hours per month on the site, Pinterest users' monthly visit time is significantly less, at around 90 minutes. Nevertheless, it is clear that Pinterest has become a phenomenon that has caught the attention of Silicon Valley and the venture capital industry.

What is most interesting is that Pinterest was not initially targeted at tech enthusiasts. This could offer significant inspiration to other startups hoping to stand out in their respective industries: rather than building businesses solely around employees of tech companies, they should think long-term and build their business strategies around the entire world.
