Progress: There is hope for sponsorship, but there is still a shortfall. What Hou Changming did not expect was that last腊month, Jiawei contracted leukemia and received a critical notice.
"At present, we have applied for the Shenhua Love Fund for Hou Jiawei. The Shenhua Love Action has dozens of leukemia assistance spots in our province. This kind of standard-risk leukemia may receive around 70,000 yuan in assistance funds. If there are special circumstances, another application can be made," Wen Li informed the reporter that Jiale's illness, although recurring, is absolutely treatable.
Hou Changming, 42 years old, lives in Jianglinhe Village, Renqiu City, Cangzhou. At the age of 28, his mother passed away, at 30 he got married, and then his father died, a series of misfortunes making his already poor family even poorer. But his two sons always made him proud, "Villagers always say my sons are handsome, smart, and understanding."
■Reporter: Who do you miss the most right now?
■Jiawei: I want to go to school. I really want to perform a dance on Children's Day.
5 yuan, 10 yuan, 20 yuan, 100 yuan... with love donations, Jiawei has been shuttling between Beijing and Shijiazhuang for treatment.
"Jiawei spent over 100,000 yuan in one month in Beijing, and my eldest son also fell ill. It truly felt like the sky was falling," Hou Changming choked up as he said this.
■Jiawei: I miss my brother. My brother is so good. He used to ride a bike to take me to school. When our parents were busy and couldn't come back at noon, it was him who cooked for me. My brother cooks so well. He can stir-fry any dish and also steam buns.
Hou Changming said he would never forget how Jiawei, while receiving an IV drip, consoled him not to cry, and how Jiawei said, "When you cry, I feel better inside..."
"Jiawei's condition improved thanks to the help of kind-hearted people." Hou Changming clearly remembers that at the end of last year, in order to save the child, the villagers voluntarily donated money.
Dialogue with Little Jiawei
"I am an incapable father, I can only desperately seek help. To save my child, I don't care about losing face!" Hou Changming hopes this time to save his son's life.
Just when Jiawei had escaped danger, in late March, Hou Jiale contracted allergic purpura. On April 16th, the two brothers were admitted into the same ward.

To raise money, since February, Hou Changming went door-to-door seeking help. Hundreds of households in neighboring villages, dozens of enterprises and units locally, he visited them all. Even if they gave ten or eight yuan, he would express gratitude for a long time. Naive Jiawei still doesn't know what leukemia means.
"Jiawei has acute lymphocytic leukemia, which is a relatively mild form of leukemia," introduced Wen Li, the attending doctor of Jiawei and head of the Hematology Nephrology Department of Hebei Children's Hospital. Jiawei has a great chance of being cured. If there are no major complications, another 100,000+ yuan will be needed for treatment.

Hou Changming, 42 years old, already has gray hair at his temples. Hou Changming said that he usually makes a living through farming, occasionally working as a laborer earning 80 yuan a day, and his wife earns a few hundred yuan per month. However, the medical expenses for his son amount to hundreds of thousands of yuan.
Helplessness: In order to save his son, the father seeks help house by house.
Six-year-old Hou Jiawei has leukemia, and 13-year-old Hou Jiale has allergic purpura... Both sons are obedient to the point of heartbreak, and Father Hou Changming cannot bear to give up. But the medical expenses amounting to several hundred thousand yuan have pushed him into a desperate situation. Currently, Hou Jiawei has already spent 160,000 yuan, and without complications, he will need at least another 150,000 yuan. Hou Jiale has also spent four or five thousand yuan, and his condition continues to recur.
Turnaround: Kind-hearted people extend a helping hand, Jiawei's condition improves.
Recently, Jiale has returned home for treatment. When the reporter met Little Jiawei, he was wearing a mask, showing his big eyes and pale forehead. His thick black hair has all fallen out due to chemotherapy. When the nurse came to draw blood for testing, he cooperatively extended his finger.
If the application is successful, there will still be a shortfall of 70,000 yuan for Jiawei's treatment costs. "No matter what, I must get treatment for my child now. I hope kind-hearted people can help us," Hou Changming choked up as he said this.
